In continuation with the earlier blog post it is a good idea to keep detailed notes on what machines you are planning on getting rid of, what needs to be disposed of on that specific piece of equipment, and if it has already been done. This will assist you in ensuring that you will not throw away a computer with valuable information still stored on it.
According to Tech Republic, “Track the physical contents of every computer and piece of network infrastructure equipment in your organization so you won’t make the mistake of overlooking a storage device. Remember that even volatile RAM can serve as a “storage device” for sensitive data under limited conditions.”
